Today is my first Relay for Life event and I'm super excited!! For anyone that doesn't know, relay for life is an event done by the American Cancer Society to raise money and awareness for cancer. This cause is really important because cancer has been a part of my family's history and has had a huge impact on all of our lives. My mom had cancer right after i was born. Thankfully she has been in remission for years but this event acts as a reminder to be thankful for modern medicine and power of will. I am so grateful that she survived and she swears that all the time that my dad spent with me while she was sick is what keeps our family's relationship strong. Cancer is treatable when caught early and i encourage all of you to encourage everyone you care about to get screened, checked, whatever, it saves lives.
happy relay for life!

hello world, hello spring, hello weather that makes me sing
It's officially that time of year, when the weather teases you with some beautiful days and some not-so-beautiful days, today seems to be a mix--like all spring days in vermont. Soooo the world has been a little bit topsy-turvy for the last couple days/weeks/months, here is a brief rundown:
1. Emily and I are moving. This is both exciting and sad, but overall exciting. We are moving from our cute apartment on main street to another cute apartment on north willard. While the circumstances for this move have been a little bit frustrating and particularly saddening, i think it will work out for the best.
2. so we're finally nearing the end of the semester and per usual i have tests and papers flooding in from all directions, but luckily i also have iced coffee so i have no doubt that with massive amounts of caffeine and shear determination they will get done...this also means i need to stop blogging and start writing...heheheh
3. today is earth day! this semester i took an environmental justice class which has really opened my eyes, especially about my consumer behavior. i'm sad to say that i am one of those people who tend to consume and consume and consume, but i am trying to be better, using refillable mugs/bottles, and trying to reuse as much as possible. If you are like me and love to read check out these two books on consumerism, they will seriously change your outlook:
Carjacked by Lutz
Garbageland by Royce
seriously they are life changing.
4. on the summer front: this summer i will be interning at the states attorneys office, as well as working part time, i should be pretty busy, but i am very excited!
So that's it for right now....oh watch GLEE.
