hey kids, it's finally summer!
today is my last final (hallelujah!) and i plan on celebrating by going home and watching trashy tv...hahaha gotta take advantage of my free time while i have it before moving, working, housesitting, painting, cleaning, interning, LIFE takes over!
a few things on my mind though, sorry if this post gets a little political, i've been watching a bit too much CNN in hendersons cafe.
1. arizona signed a bill today that would limit/ban ethnic studies in state schools (high schools), claiming that these classes promote resentment among non-whites against whites. under the surface however there seems to be an unfortunate hint of intolerance, and dare i say it? racism. it's unfortunate that arizona has become a breeding ground for subtly racist bills but we hopefully they can get their act together, or at least have an election.
2. the great oil spill of 2010...off-shore drilling? i think bad idea. even better are the excuses being provided that the preventative measures taken should have been enough and that it is an unfortunate accident that there is a humongous leak that is sending millions of gallons of oil into the gulf coast, possibly ruining the economy and livelihoods of millions. no big deal. even better, BP is only covering a portion of the cost, the rest of it...going to the lovely taxpayers. if this isn't a good reason to invest in green energies, than i don't know what is.
hopefully i'll be able to keep up better with the blog! enjoy the weekend :)
